History

St. George's church (originally intended to be the church hall) was designed by Sir Herbert Baker and is a National Heritage site. The P/II Dekker organ was installed in 1927 and stands in an apse at the rear of the church. Shortly after installation, the console started misbehaving continuously. Eventually it was replaced by a detached Rushworth & Dreaper console in 1934.
